US President Donald Trump has formally launched his re-election campaign, making the announcement during his roughly 80-minute speech in Orlando, Florida on June 18.

Of course, his candidacy was hardly a surprise, since he apparently filed his 2020 paperwork the day after his inauguration in January 2017. That said, it was a strategic move to take his announcement to this east coast state.

Florida is a key battleground state, and Trump only narrowly won it over in the 2016 election. This time, he’s pulling all the strings. He called Florida "my second home," and some sources say he paid for buses to bring in his supporters from all around the state.

The Republican president reiterated many themes of his winning 2016 campaign, including his stance on immigrants, the future of the wall, fake news, and his work with the economy and healthcare.

"I promise you I will never ever let you down," he told them.

He also decided to update his famed red-hat slogan. "We are going to keep America great again," he said.

And because no Trump rally is complete without a unifying chant, he also elicited a repeated "lock her up" from supporters when he brought up Hillary Clinton, despite the fact that she is not even in the 2020 race.

As for who is running against him, there are quite a few candidates with good prospects. Early polls also reportedly place Trump behind some potential Democratic challengers.
